Analysis of the Copper Industry Chain in Indonesia Using a System Dynamics Approach to Optimize Its Added Value

Indonesia is a leading producer of wide range minerals, including copper. Nonetheless, the copper-based industry in still not well developed, especially limited number products from intermediate copper which will become raw materials for its downstream industry. The underdeveloped has forced to import several types semi-finished meet needs On other hand, mining exports concentrate and some cathodes produced by smelting. As result, added value obtained optimal. Therefore, it necessary conduct research on chain estimate increase that could be generated. In this study, system dynamics (SD) model was developed. During simulation period 2020 2030, total along can USD 70,422,840,000 if planned smelter refinery completed 2023 process all domestic concentrates capacity.
